Because everyone has caller ID and they don't answer calls from people/numbers they don't recognize.

Well, when they see an 11 digits number (ie 014-451-44511-54 or whatever you guys in India use) they usually will not pick up. Add to that the fact that most lists are WHORED and they are already getting 5 calls a day, they arent very keen to answer the phone.
But as bow said, thats the #1 reason: They do not pick up telemarketer calls.
(Telemarketers are generally hated in every country i've ever been to).

Let me tell you buddy that there is an option to display a activate number also on the caller ids , so that if any customer wants him/herself to be removed from the list and put on DNC .
And let me tell you we follow all the rules of FTC.
Now the second thing why we dont get good contacts is calling at wrong time.
So please people who dont have knowledge of telemarketing should not comment like anything.
I agree that all types of guys are there but still some guys who follow all norms are still present.
Thanks,
Jai

Jai,
Your misunderstood me. I am not saying you are breaking any rules. What I am saying is if you have a list, the odds are someone else has the list. And if that is the case, I do not believe all parties will act the same way. Some will do what I said, call 5 times a day and generally piss them off so that when a good company does call them, they do not care because they have already been bothered so much.
If your thinking about calling time remember this: in the US most people work from 9am-5pm monday to friday.

yes my friend i got you right and that is why i said all guys dont follow the rules but some are still there.
And yes your are correct that people work from 9-5 Mon-Fri.
So we target them in morning hrs and then in evening hrs.
Thanks,

Most people who are on these lists being sold would like to hunt down the people who keep calling them and cut off their balls with a very blunt saw.
Under privacy laws in the US I understand it is illegal to trade in peoples medical data without their express prior approval. So people who buy and sell lists with numbers and any info on previous orders, even just product name, are breaking the law.
To say any of you people "follow all the rules of FTC" is a load of shit. You can't legally call these people at all unless your calling list was legally acquired.
If you brought a list off some guy using a hushmail account and skype and paid via western union or the like there is a 99.9997% probability the list is not legal.
If you purchased your list off an affiliate there is a 99.9997% probability the list is not legal.
If you brought your list off a OP that was closing down there is a 99.9997% probability the list is not legal.
Express prior permission from each customer is required before you can share their data.
So a quick message on behalf of some of my customers who have illegally had their contact details traded like a commodity. Call center operators are the absolute sum of the earth and deserve to rot in hell.
Have a nice day.

Hello Sir,
Here is the answer to your question and i totally agree with you that these type of people are present here.
But we only buy list using our valid SAN ID and from list vendors who have precured those lists either by surveys or etc.
and the lists are always scrubbed against the list from FTC from time to time.
So dont think that , still there are some guys who does the things in professional manner.
Thanks,
Jai

Hi Jai,
If you follow the things you say I commend you, very good.
Also from a customers perspective it is important to stop calling them if they as you not to call. There are many offshore call centers that ignore customers and harass customers EVERY morning and night even after they say they will never order from them.
There are plenty of very upset customers out there.
I'm of the opinion that badly run call centers are likely to be the cause of the total end to the OP industry. the reason is because some bad operators cause so much hate and damage to customers they turn eventually start to lobby government to shut the whole industry down.

This is too melodramatic. The reality is this industry may be damaged in the U.S but it will live on and grow offshore indefinitely just like gaming has.

Jai,
I hope you do a better job of convincing your customers than me of your legitimacy.
Also, if you do get your "legitimately acquired" new clients to stay on the phone long enough to listen to you, they will not stay on the line long. You will need to improve your English for that.
I don't have a problem with spammers or call centers or data trading........how hypocritical could I be?...........just remember you cannot bullshit a bullshitter.......
Therefore, I call bullshit! :D
Best of luck to you.
