All-
Below is the textof the latest newsletter we are sending to all affiliates today. I wanted all of you to be aware of our activities as quickly as possible. Please email me (Bryan@METAbility.com) if you have any questions.
------------------
Dear Valued USAP Affiliates and Partners-
After reviewing the risks and benefits of a number of alternatives, we have concluded that removing controlled substances from the product formulary is the most appropriate action for our business partners and ourselves. As of <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="18">6:00pm</st1:time> on <st1:date Year="2003" Day="13" Month="11">November 13th, 2003</st1:date>, controlled substances will no longer be available from the USAP network. Although the products will continue to be listed in the online formulary, a consumer message will appear in lieu of the shopping cart. We regret having to take this action, but the long-term integrity and viability of Internet medicine and its participants is more important that any short-term gain we might realize.
Coincidently, we have been working with physicians and pharmacists to identify additional medications that fit the profile of our customer segment. These medications are not life sustaining drug therapies, but rather enhance a customer's health and wellness. Our consultant physicians believe that these medications can be safely prescribed without a physical examination. We expect these additional medications will be available for sale within 24 hours.
Arguably, a significant portion of the phentermine market was largely the result of Internet medicine. While this opportunity is at least temporarily on hold, we believe there is significant unmet demand for other lifestyle medications as well. We hope that you will `adopt' one or more of the newly available medications, and engage in aggressive promotion and patient education campaigns to meet the need. What will be our next `phentermine'?
As always, we value your commitment and loyalty, and look forward to the resolution of the current battle. We are glad that you are on the USAP team.
