I found out today that an executive from JRB Health Solutions has already filled a truck with relief supplies and headed down to the hurricane stricken Gulf Coast to offer a helping hand.

Outstanding! God bless you.

this is very nice of JRB ... seriously ...

i am kinda upset though that the US is among the first countries to help/defend or attack and it just seems to take forever for the army or anyone to do anything....

I might be naive and know nothing about US policies and very little of disaster plans, but it seems to me that they could have done more than what they are doing ...

For me it is not clear why the governor did not call for the army's help :
if not for the idiots who are shooting and looting with ak47's but for dropping some aid even just via air-drop or sending in a few smaller boats or land/water vehicles to help the rescue...

And again i might have seen too much of US catastrophy movies but I just imagined that it would happen a bit more organized than this ....

OK i am off topic, it just had to come out .... I have family there (some of them made it out on time, some are still in the area) and i am kinda furious to see that help comes just a bit slow ...

Wow Dave, thank you for the kind words. We just got back from MS last night, and I can tell you that it is truly a tragedy unfolding down there. We were in the Biloxi area yesterday, and I can tell you that the word destruction does not even come close. We were in a pretty poor neighborhood, and I can tell you that the people there were in need of food and water. FEMA has set up two distribution points in the county, but along the coast, so many cars were destroyed, and gas is in short supply (like 5-6 hour lines to get any), that many people simply cannot get to these points. What we did was just a drop in the bucket, compared to the need of the people there. Most of the people we gave supplies to stated that we were the first help that they had seen. Indeed the only parties we saw were utility linesmen, and loader operators clearing the streets.

Contrary to the situation in New Orleans, we were greeted with unbelievable thanks and that alone made it worth the long trip. It truly sickens me to see the situation unfolding in N.O. where truly giving people were afraid to help due to the criminal unrest taking place. Yesterday Jessie Jackson condemned these fire and rescue workers for being afraid to help, and that sickens me even more. He is headed down there in a limousine with three buses to "rescue the people of N.O.". Hopefully some bullets will come close enough to make him appreciate what the situation really is.

On a happier note, one pharmacy in Biloxi was opened, and the owner was giving out 7 day supplies of people's medications on good faith that the ones who were able would come back and pay for them. Even in the darkest of times (or especially in the darkest of times), it is great to see the kindness of some people. It is people like this who are the true heroes in this story. For any of you who are interested, I will upload some of the pictures we took from the region later this afternoon, and post a link to them in our forum.
