I've read pretty much all Google has to offer about AdWords, would it be worth the investment to pay for one of these "quick start" programs that teach you the "secrets" of AdWords?

Stormy C,
Bid the top position and be one of the two sponsored listings at the top of the page, not the right column and your clicks/sales will be five to ten times what they are with the right column creatives. Pe prepared to convert those clicks to sales or you will go broke in a day or even an hour. Low margin popular meds with high PPC bids, try and start out on page two or three with low bids. You will get the bargain shoppers there but they will still buy.For everything else you want to offer, slowly work your way somewhere in between. Run ads for a few days or even a few hours. Pick Monday - Thursday for your tests and 10:00a - 4:00p for your testing. You will know real quick if you are making money or not.
Hope this helps.

Thanks X - going into this blindly is rather costly, no matter how much I read, there's always an angle I miss, and they (SE) don't, resulting in more $$$ going out than in. Kudos to you folks for your success and enduring this BS. I'll have more q's down the road, I'm sure. - StormyC-

How can I control the conversion of a click to a sale? There's no interaction - smileys/smiley11.gif

LOL, if any of us knew how to do that, we would be rich beyond our wildest dreams.
A couple things to consider, make it as easy as possible for the surfer to buy your product. You site's appearance can play a big part in conversions. If the surfer feels warm and fuzzy when they visit your site, chances are they will buy.
Remember buying is all about emotion.
