Ok, somebody explain this to me...

From what an experienced affiliate told me and what I read on this forum, I should've been filthy rich by now.

In recent months, one of my affiliate template sites has been pulling in about 100,000-150,000 hits per month. Yet, I only get about 2,000-4,000 visits per month.

Am I the only one who's stats look this way? And if I am, what the hell do you suggest I do to get a little more on the visits side?

To improve your hits vs. visits, take all the images off your pages. smileys/smiley8.gif No lie.

If you have a page with nine images you will rack up ten hits for that visit. Hits don't mean squat, it's visits, referrers, entry andand exit pages that tell you what you need to know. Page count per visitor will also give you an idea of you site stickiness (how long the visitor stays around). If the bulk of your traffic enters on your home page and exits on your home page instead of a product page, look at your site design, it is turning people away or just loads really slow and they do not want to wait around for what looks like 40-50 image slices so I imagine it is an OPtemplate site. If they exit on your product page, either they went to the checkout or didn't like your prices. If they exit on the home page, they didn't like your site. smileys/smiley12.gif

Redex explains it all... Hits vs. Visits 101

Well, images is definitely something I completely forgot about... So I'm okay with that ratio. And my entrance and exit pages are working out so everything is fine... Too bad I wasn't filthy rich though... smileys/smiley1.gif

Thanks alot X...

You may also want to consider adding exit popups to pages, where if the visitor doesn't click on your links they get a popup to another one of your OPs with the same meds. The popup could be the meds page itself or a small banner ad for the med (example: 350x350). Old Adult Web trick where you keep your traffic going until they buy something.

You may also want to creat custom error pages (if your hosting company allows) which contain promos rather than just the standard "Error 404" page.

Visitors= people

Visits = People (for the most part)but if longer than 15 minutes of inactivity and then activity again, it counts as another visit.

Page Views = each page a person loads. 1 visitor may go to 5 pages

Hits = every image, page, and worthless POS on every page. If you have a lousy promotion team, they may be showing you this.

But really the most important identifier is BUYERS
