I heard on CNN this morning that Yahoo is going to mix it's paid listings in with it's spider listings and not let the searcher know which are paid or which are dfree. Also stated was money would not buy you a higher placement.
Is this true?

That can't be true. They are required to distiguish advertising from search results.

uhh that sucks balls ...
for the users, definetely ...
for us: if it is a "mix" not ads first - then results it can be good/interesting/challenging/bad
I do not think they HAVE TO DISTINGUISH ... they do whatever they want with their own ads ....
if it is inktomi's or someone else's ads, I think they should

Not entirely true.
The FTC requires that search engines fully disclose that paid advertisements are included in their search results.

the paper starts: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
well Yahoo is a US company, so it applies to them, however I was talking about search engines, not us companies ...
ps: just for the sake of hiding my missing knowledge about US regulations and law...
On the other hand If I make my own non-listed-non-existent-mini-noone-visits search engine, as a freelancer or a non US company i do not think it apllies to me

I just signed up with looksmart, findwhat, e-pilot and Ah-ha as an affiliate. Got my click-bots cranking. I am raking it in. Who needs Yahoo.

Oh sure, Yahoo will make quite a distinction between the paid and non-paid sites:
Yahoo will include only a general disclosure about the new program, on a separate page. (To read it, Web surfers must click on the phrase "What's this?")
Where do I sign up so that I can burn some money?

I didn't even think of this before, but OP's and Affiliates will have to get approved by SquareTrade first if they're evening thinking about using this program.
